There are many ways to transfer video from computers to camcorders. If we use a video camera with a media mini-DV storage there are two ways that a video transfer with FireWire interface (IEEE 1394) and USB 2.0. The fundamental difference of the two interfaces is the speed of data transfer such as in the video transfer. FireWire allows us to transfer data at speeds up to 800 Mbps, while USB version 2.0 supports speeds up to 480 Mbps.
To the resulting video quality, FireWire interfaces are capable of producing a video with a resolution of 720 x 576 pixels (PAL), while for a USB 2.0 interface, is only capable of producing a video with a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. Both the size of the resolution was more than enough to make video content that will be distributed in the format of Video CD (VCD) which has a resolution of 352 x 288 pixels (PAL).[ad#Google Adsense]
In this tutorial, we will try to transfer video from Sony Handycam DCR-HC42E type to Personal Computer using USB 2.0 interface. Video editing applications that are used to capture video from camcorders is Windows Movie Maker 2.0, which run on Microsoft operating system Windows XP Professional SP 2. Here are the steps:
1. Download file USBDRVEN.zip from page (www.box.net/shared/77nzt1g0ss), then open using WinZip or double-click (Windows Extractor is an application that is in Windows XP will open the file). Extract to a local directory on the computer. Next double-click on the file USBDRVEN.exe. Choose a location to extract. Then the extracted folder, double-click the Setup.exe file to begin the installation process.
2. Connect the handycam to the AC adapter (the same way to fill the battery).
3. Set camcorders, USB to stream mode. Open the LCD on the handycam, see the menu on the right below. Then press the P-menu, then press MENU, then select EDIT / PLAY, then click the USB MODE, then select USB Stream.
4. Rewind to the starting position handycam footage.
5. Connect the handycam with a PC using a USB cable. (USB-mode t camcorders LCD / viewfinder.)

9. Determine the capture format and click Next. (Use the recommended option settings if not obvious)
10. Dialog box appears with the Start button and End Capture Capture in the left pane and the preview window i right.
11. Play on camcorders. So the video from the camcorders will appear in the preview window, from WMM.
12. Click the Start Capture button to start recording video. Click End Capture button to stop recording.
13. Click the Finish button. Next file. Wmv is stored in storage locations that we set in step 7.
Once again we emphasize that the way this video captures only used to transfer video from Sony handycam camera with Mini-DV storage. USB drivers are available only for use on the Windows XP operating system, and does not support the Windows Vista operating system.
